When Mustafa and his family crossed into Uganda in 2018, they were relocated to Omugo refugee settlement in the Northern part of the country.

In 2019, through its Animal Gift Catalogue programme, World Vision distributed two goats and ten chicks to over 2,500 households in Omugo and Imvepi refugee settlements to enhance household income and nutrition. Edina, Mustafa's mother recalls with excitement when she first received her goats. “We had lost everything in South Sudan. I knew that these goats would help us rebuild for the future,” says Edina.

The goats are now more than just a livelihood for this family, they have become friends for the children, who, because of the pandemic, cannot go to school.

Mustafa and his brother Robert and fully responsible for the goats. They take them for grazing every morning, serve them water at midday, find them some extra food to eat and bring them back home in the evening.
